Surviving the alcoholic's addiction

Do you know how long it takes for the brain to be alcohol toxin free after an alcoholic quits drinking?

Do you understand the legal ramifications of staying married to an alcoholic?

Do you have a safe place to escape when things get heated at your house?

Have you a support system when you just need to vent?

Linda’s Place will provide all these things for anyone who is battling the dilemma of staying or moving on. It is a recovery center for families and friends of alcoholics. This is not just a glorified Al-Anon center. However, Al-Anon will be invited to hold meetings at the center. This center is a place of education, support and resources.

At Linda’s Place you will find on-going
peer support group sessions and access to individual professional counselors, relax doing yoga, arts & crafts, watching a video or reading a book. Drop the kids off in the play room and find some adult conversation. Linda’s Place is a chance to de-stress, find help and make friends.

The location of the first center, by necessity, is close to my home in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. But this is just the first step. The plan is to increase Linda’s Place centers over the next couple of years until there is one in every major city of the United States – and smaller towns too!

The second step is converting B&B’s into residential treatment centers. Programs will be four to five days in duration and can be tailored to meet the needs of the client. Get away from the chaos; get an education; make a plan; and, rest. Bring the kids – no need to seek child care because it will be provided by the center.

The plans are amazing and needed. But, it can’t happen if I don’t get enough funding to get started. Please check out my crowd funding site at

If you can’t donate money, please share the link with your contacts, or volunteer services, materials, or other resources. Positive comments are most especially welcome.

Let’s start a revolution!! Let’s stop being the invisible collateral damage and take back our lives! Instead of just getting by, let's stop letting alcohol dictate our lives.

You'll be needing thousands and thousands of dollars to launch and maintain this project - maybe apply for a government subsidy of sorts? I hate to sound discouraging, but it's going to take a lot more than donations. Best of luck!

I really appreciate this idea. As someone living with an active drinker who purports to want help, then goes on benders that make him seem close to late-stage, sometimes I can deal with it, and other times I can't.

I've longed for a network of sorts of non-judgemental people who might put you up for a few days to help you regain your sanity.

What is the status on this project and what are you doing with the $60 donations?

Things are going very slowly with this project. I haven't had the time to market it the way I wanted. The deadline for the Indigogo crowdfunding is May 15th (I think). I think the money should be used for doing a seminar or go towards another fundraising event. I will be sending everyone an e-mail at the expiration of the crowdfunding and ask each person how they would like to have the money used.

FYI, Riley is back in hospice and I may be getting some help. That would allow me to spend more time on this project.
